General
There are a lot of mysteries and open questions related to the early part of the Coshocton stock catalog, especially with the Baby Trays —will the Real Beach Stock No. 4 please stand up?
These two similar images, one of a blond baby and one of a slightly older blond girl or boy (hard to determine), both sport the same leaf rim, so clearly they are from the same manufacturer. Examples of each have been documented with the number '4' at the 6 o’clock position at the edge of the rim, with the baby version just having a “4” and the young child a “No. 4”.

All known examples of these are oval in shape and have only been seen with the leaf rim design. This design also appears on many other Beach trays of this timeframe.
The baby also appears as smaller-size SFT sign approximately 15" by 19 1/2" and was used by Mennen Talcum Powder in print ads. The SFT carries the H.D. Beach signature and a Copyright date of 1904, by the artist Chas. (Charles) Williams (no further information found).
1904 seems like a long time to only be on #4 when Beach got back in business in early 1902 with the Ginna plant and July 1902 with his new Coshocton facility. Hager has the baby version in his NABA article in a discussion on rim styles under the “The Question Marks” section, but neither image is included in his “official” catalog of images.
