General
Aww, who doesn’t love puppies?   Well maybe not the guy whose cards are getting chewed up.  Examples just have the number 6 at the bottom; identification as Beach comes from the leaf rim variation, which appears on several other early Beach trays.

It is suspected, but no confirmed that  the “leaf” rim is early and the alternate gold rim is later.  The supestion is that Beach (and others) moved to simpler rims because they were less expensive (i.e., fewer printings) and allowed for better display of advertising text.  We have only ever encountered this as an oval tray.  It shows up quite often as stock sample without advertising; among the brewers Neef Bros. is most common.

Because of the subject matter of cute puppies, these tend to go for a higher price than their availability would suggest.
