From the Collection of Mark Rogers. This tray is most likely later than the plate version above, as SS Dish trays by Shonk were more common later than the plate versions. Also it appears the patch of grass has been converted to gardens & a fountain & there are now two bottles on the inside rim. Very interesting art application with the bottles on this tray. When you look at the tray straight on, the bottles appear to be straight. However if you turn the tray to look directly at the inside rim the bottles are both crooked. They are crooked so they will look straight when looking at the tray in its most commonly viewed orientation. Now that is attention to detail. |
