Comments: Very nice,
not all that common of a Lemp tray. I have seen four or five and they all have
similar face issues. This is the nicest I have seen to date. A very attractive
tray when it is clean. A knowledgable Lemp collector contacted me with the
following: "...please note that your tray is a Post-Pro tray (circa 1947) from the Wm. J. Lemp Brewing Company of East St. Louis, Ill. The brewery was short-lived as one of the Lemp decendents (Edwin Lemp) tried to give brewing one more try and capitalize upon the family name. Since the rights to the Lemp shield had been sold to the Griesediecks (the founders of the Falstaff Brewing Corp.) during Prohibition, Edwin could not use the famous shield in any of his Lemp advertising." |
