Comments: Another tray
from The Haydock's collection. I won this one and several others during the
October Fink's Off the Wall Auction. When the Fink's haul arrived, there was an
interesting little inventory tag on the back of many of the trays. At the time
I was unaware that these were tags used at some point to catalog the Haydock's
collection. Not sure if they were theirs, Oldenburg's, an auctioneers or
Millers. Another story for another time and I don't even know if I have the
facts straight yet. I hope to run into Herb and his wife some day, as I have
many trays from their fabulous collection and would like to know the "real"
story. Despite the lineage (this is the actual tray on page 104 of the Haydock's Book, The World of Collectible Breweriana), this is a very attractive tray. You see them every once in a while on eBay, but more times than not they are in pretty rough shape. I feel very fortunate for many reasons that this great tray is in my collection. |
